No Sound, From Any Sound Card
What I want to do is get a nice expensive sound card and some good speakers, was looking at the x-fire range, good and about £100 odd something like Auzen X-Fi Prelude. You fancy a bit of retail therapy? :-) £100 is a CHEAP sound card, aimed at gamers and home-theatre folk. I just have no idea what all these odd

More on Creative's new sound card
One of the reasons I paid $400 for this sound card is it has a dedicated Guitar Input. Normal Guitars sound ok, but the one with the DG-20's in it sound horrible. Because it's active, there is no tone shift when you lower the volume (passive guitars generally get muddy as you decrease the volume).

Battlefield 2 and X-fi setup problem
So then, are you telling me that if I am using a sound card other than the integrated motherboard soundcard, I will get no sound through a USB tv tunner? That seems kind of logical really, but people like Creative would not be very happy with that. Seriously, there has to be another solution for the problem.

Is an audigy going to be good enough for you is the main question, or will you want a more pro level sound card that does not do sample smoothing? . Everything nowdays is plug n play, So I'm going to buy a newer one but the new motherboard has two PCI Slots only and there is no space to change IRQ's etc.

No Sound (FEAR and Extraction Point Expansion Pack) - Vista
You can have problems with a sound card, even if you weren't using any other PCI devices like your Promise RAID controller. So, even if you were extremely careful, to plan in advance for the arrival of the sound card, you might still find that it "crackles" or otherwise misbehaves. There are no guarantees of smooth

Now what I notice is that game play is fine but that the sound drops out every few seconds. This is regardless of the source. I don't use the X-Fi card that came with my system any longer because the on-board sound is good enough today and it also uses the internal PC speaker so that the tons of problems lots of people have with their sound cards. Unfortunately, there is no real alternative in the gaming/soho market any more... Benjamin.
